Star Academy Competition Team Auditions - Ages 4-8 (Mini Team!)

About the event
Competition Team Information:
Our mini competition team is a beginner, mostly recreational team - although we have already received many amazing awards!! This group will be dancers ages 4 to 8 years old. They will likely have one group jazz/acro piece that they will compete & perform. The mini team will compete at just 2 local competitions in March-May, as well as have 2 other community performances throughout the year.
Summer Requirements:
Mini team members are required to take either one technique class per week over the Summer at Star Academy, our Dance Technique Intensive, or three 1/2-hour private lessons with Mrs. Caitlyn.
Fall/Spring Requirements:
We will have one 1/2-hour team practice per week, as well as a 45-minute practice about one weekend per month. They must also take one ballet class/technique class per week to be on the team. If we have any additional routines in a different style, they may be required to take a weekly class in that style as well (hip-hop, acro, tap, etc).
What to Expect at Auditions:
Dancers should arrive warmed up as we will immediately go into across the floor exercises (kicks, chasses, small turns, leaps, etc), and then learn a quick jazz combo. At the end, we will ask for dancers to improv, as well as show off any acro tricks.
What to Wear/Bring to Auditions:
All black dance attire (leotard, tank top, leggings, shorts, etc are all perfect)
Hair in a pulled back ponytail or bun
Jazz shoes (if you have them)
Competition Team Expectations:
Our team will be held to a high standard. They are representatives of Star Academy and expected to follow class uniform requirements, and set examples in every class with their respect and work ethic. Failure to do so may result in removal from the company.

*Specialty Teams Auditions (hip-hop, acro, & tap teams) for ages 7+ will take place from 6:00-7:30. Please just let us know if your child would like to attend this audition as well!
